Happy New Year everyone, and welcome to January! Here at Flipp, we’re ramping up and catching up with our team members on what they did over the holidays. While the holidays are a time for resetting and recharging, they can often feel like a hustle. The actual holidays can be fragmented in the middle of the week, leaving you jumping from family time and then back to the office for a couple days before the next event. At Flipp, we have a ‘Work from Home Light’ approach (or WFHLite as we call it) to support our team in gearing up for the new year ahead. Essentially, our regular ways of working shift to our team members working from home from the 25th of December until the New Year. This gives everyone the opportunity to spend time recharging all aspects of their lives.

“When you can disconnect from your daily routine, you unlock your imagination. At Flipp, we deliberately take the time over the holidays to create a shift in mindset so that you can focus on the bigger picture. Not only is it a great time to spend with your family, it’s an opportunity to reflect, energize and set yourself up for what’s next,” says Wehuns Tan, Flipp co-founder and CEO.

At Flipp, we believe that the flexibility to work from home when needed is important all year long. We’re a high-trust team and believe that everyone should have the freedom and responsibility to drive results in the best way for themselves. The WFHLite approach takes this idea to the next level by insisting that people honour commitments to family and friends, take a look at personal and professional priorities for 2019 and reset. When it comes to recharging, the team at Flipp believes in a balance between all aspects of life. From your personal to professional well-being, it’s important to focus on all aspects to achieve balanced fulfillment.

During this time, each team member needs to be available for critical work. Aside from that, team members are given a bit of ‘homework’ to do. ‘Thinking big picture’ was the thought-starter that Wehuns left the company with before the holidays, encouraging everyone to consider how to work better and smarter together in 2019, and to think about setting a lofty personal goal.

Looking for ways to ‘level up’ both at work and outside of the office is always a theme in our final company-wide Big Scrum of the year. “Invest in yourself and write down some goals. Then, share them with an accountability partner or your coach,” explains Wehuns. At Flipp, we have coaches, not bosses. Our coaches are there to help us with the ‘homework’ that’s given and to hold us accountable to not only creating new goals for ourselves, but also to taking the time needed at this busy time of year to find the quiet space to do this. As we head back to the office and into 2019, we want team members to come back feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to drive results.

We’re looking forward to a great year ahead, and welcome back Flipp team!
