If you were on social media recently, then you may have noticed plenty of people and organizations asking you to wear blue. This is because blue is the color of autism awareness month. Unfortunately, autism is one of the fastest-growing developmental disorders. However, many medical professionals, parents and charities are pushing change and advancement in diagnosing and curing this disorder. Below are a few truths about autism and how you can help reverse its advancement.

Neuraldevelopmental Disorder Cluster. Autism is a set of concrete disorders with shared symptoms. These symptoms typically appear during infancy with many parents noticing a development “lag” once their child misses certain developmental milestones.

Early Intervention Helps. The best way to combat autism gaining a foothold within a child is through early intervention methods. Parents are the first line of defense in the fight against autism. Early intervention is as simple as insisting on sticking to a schedule, consistency, rewarding good behavior and giving your child a safety zone within the home. Vaccines Are Not Harmful. This is a touchy subject, however, it must be stated. CDC and other organizations and medical professionals have confirmed that there is no link between vaccines and autism. However, if parents have concerns, many medical professionals recommend staggering your child’s vaccinations to prevent them from being susceptible to measles, polio and other diseases which are making a comeback because of parents not vaccinating their children.

Boys are Predisposed to Having Autism at a Faster Rate Than Girls. Yes, you are reading that right. Boys are predisposed to being diagnosed with autism at significantly higher rate than girls.

There is No Cure for Autism…Yet. The past few years have brought us closer and closer to curing and combatting autism. There are numerous institutions around the world sharing research and fighting for a cure. There are millions on top of millions of people dedicated to raising money to ensure the resources to fight autism never run out.

April may be Autism Awareness Month, but we believe the fight for autism needs to continue year round. Because of this, we ask one thing. Please volunteer your time or give your money to help find a cure for this disorder. Time is of the essence and you hold the key to unlocking a cure.
