Get it done…quick!

“greater clarity enabling you to carry out your business tasks in shorter time than it would take someone else!”

The famous Machne Israel Development Fund was established by The Rebbe in the 1980's, allowing an inner circle of influential businessmen back stage access and insights usually kept behind closed doors. The Rebbe’s interest and attention to detail on matters related to business is really fascinating to me and something that I get continued inspiration from. I have delved into this in detail and hand picked some snippets that I want to share with you.

Mr and Mrs George Rohr (inspiring philanthropists) meeting with The Rebbe

This snippet is taken from a well known Sicha (talk) in 1991. As part of the gathering of the Machne Israel fund (during the holiday month of Tishrei) The Rebbe addressed the group as a whole and below is some goodness from this address.

To provide some context, the Sicha is discussing the importance of Learning and personal growth and despite what you might feel, taking the time to learn, will not take away from your business dealing, and even enable you to maximize the time allocated for getting stuff done related to your business.

Through doing this (learning more) not only will you not lose out in your success or ability to concentrate in the time allocated to your business, to the contrary… through learning more your head becomes clearer and more relaxed,

this gives you greater clarity and enables you to carry out your business tasks in shorter time than it would take someone else!

I have seen this countless times in my own business, when coming into a day with the right intention. A good night sleep, a session of learning and a focused list of what needs to be done, the work output can be significant. Some days I seem to be spinning tires, lacking focus and spend the day responding to random emails and tasks.

At the end of any day or work, write down a list of all the things you want to get done for the following day. Prioritize the list and ensure that at least one really important task is at the top of the list.

Add another special task to the list at the very top that is something dear to you, something related to your personal growth and learning, something outside of the normal work to do list. This could be learning a new topic for 30 minutes, prayer or meditation or anything related to becoming a better person.

Wake up in the morning with the intention of not doing any work until you get the special task done. Be relentless, even if it is only for 5 minutes.

Now that you have done this, its time to get to work. Start your day with the clear and prioritized list you set the night before. Make some serious progress on the top priority item before jumping to anything else, don’t reply to emails, don’t take calls, and of course don’t read Trump’s twitter account!

Try this and see how it helps you move through your list faster. Does it work for you? Let me know.
