Few New Testament characters spark as much curiosity and misunderstanding as Thomas.

Often labelled with the slightly unfair nickname “Doubting Thomas,” he’s one of the most wrongly maligned figures in biblical history. This moniker has cast an unwarranted shadow over him, portraying him as perpetually sceptical — a reputation he doesn’t deserve.

Best known for his initial reluctance to believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ without firsthand proof, Thomas’s story is actually one of profound transformation and courageous faith.

Beyond the well-worn, familiar story, Thomas emerges as a multi-faceted individual who made a lasting mark on early Christianity. Join us as we dive into nine intriguing, lesser-known facts about Thomas, shedding light on his life and the timeless lessons we can glean from this fascinating disciple.

1. Thomas had an unknown twin
