WWelcome to the first week of Jumping into James — the new Inspire Believe Grow Monday Bible Study series.

In my lengthy ministerial career, I preached through James at least twice.

The first was MANY years ago, before saving sermons digitally was a thing — and I lost those sermons in the mists of time.

Then I preached another series — in a different church — a few years ago, which I’ve carefully saved and will use as the basis for this series.

I’ll repeat what I said last week. This is a series for people of faith struggling to live in a complex world. It’s a practical series aimed at ordinary people.

It’s NOT meant to be a theological treatise, nor will it even try to convince sceptics and unbelievers. So, if you’re in that camp, please move on — there’s nothing here for you.

James is a practical and applicable book with a LOT to say to us as Christians today. There is little of the theological discourse we find in the letters of Paul, for example.
