Inspire9 is proud to partner with the Movember Foundation this November as part of a unique initiative to combat men’s mental health concerns.

As one of the most inspirational and identifiable Not-For-Profit groups in the world, The Movember Foundation champions innovation at a grassroots level to help stop men dying too young. Movember aims to deliver innovative and progressive solutions to alleviate issues that result in men’s suicide rates and other important mental health issues.

With that, Inspire9 & Movember have launched a partnership initiative called Mo Hacks- a way to challenge the community to find new ways to improve men’s mental health and encourage the conversation now.

What is Mo Hacks?

To be hosted at The Dream Factory in Footscray on Saturday November 11th, Mo Hacks is a unique hackathon opportunity where teams of problem solvers, hustlers, designers, technologists and entrepreneurial thinkers will spend a day solving a problem to make a difference. Teams will combine skills in user research, ideation and rapid prototyping, with mentors from the Inspire9 and Movember community on-hand to help flesh out and present these ideas.

The Challenge for participants…

Every minute a man dies by suicide.

We want to work towards a world where men take action to be mentally healthy and well and are supported during tough times, backed by their friends, family and community.

Men don’t engage with their health and wellbeing pre-crisis.

The challenge on the day is to develop a product that will get men engaging in their mental health and wellbeing.

What are we doing at Mo Hacks?

  • Form teams, get briefed on the problem statement and brainstorm a digital solution.
  • Pick up some lean user experience design techniques from our mentors.
  • Put your new-found UX skills into practice and design a lo-fi prototype.
  • Demo your prototype and present your recommendations to the judges.
  • Have fun while you’re doin’ good to change the face of men’s health.

So…what are the details?

Mo Hacks, a hackathon initiative supporting men’s mental health support and awareness, runs on Saturday November 11th from 8.30am to 6.00pm at the stunning Dream Factory location- 90 Maribyrnong Street, Footscray, 3011.

Tickets are available for $10 at mohacks.org (additional donations optional) All proceeds from ticket sales, (and any additional donations) go directly to the Movember Foundation.
