Thanks For An Amazing 2015

You know how they say ‘time flies when you’re having fun’? The end of the year has crept up and we can certainly vouch for that after celebrating the ‘year that was’ at the Latin Fiesta!

We wouldn’t be who we are or where we’re at without you, our supportive and inspiring members make Inspire9 a community — in the truest sense. We’d like to extend a thank you to everyone who co-worked or attended an event this year. We’ve met so many talented people with incredible ideas and endless motivation. Our community wouldn’t be anywhere near as wonderful without each and every one of you.

We wanted take this opportunity to revisit some of the amazing achievements our community has made in 2015:

• Inspire9 hosted the launch event of LaunchVic, the $60m startup fund which will invest in core infrastructure, improve access to capital for local start-ups, advocate on Commonwealth legislation and regulation, as well as engage in start-up events and mentoring programs.

Rome2Rio launched the Advance Booking Alert, Stations Near Me and User Accounts Support features as well as a new mobile interface and a whole lot more.

Culture Amp are continuing their mission to transform company culture for the better, raising a very pretty $6 Million Series A round from US and Australian investors earlier this year.

WeTeachMe were announced as Australia’s largest school.

Etsy had a very busy 2015 with the #MakeforGood campaign, Made Local Market, Etsy x Bride, Etsy Resolution, Etsy at the Cullen, Design Awards and more! Read all about their win-filled year on the Etsy blog.

Eventbrite launched RFID wristbands changing the future of events for the better.

Tablo launched Tablo Scholar earlier in the year, a first of it’s kind for the online publishing industry.

• The talented Dixon brothers, Dave & Mykel created a short video to celebrate the magic of our wonderful community.

Attendly’s Michael Calle stepped it up with both his band Collosvs scoring international tours and his side biz First Press Coffee being distributed nationally.

Shopwings expanded their delivery area operations in Melbourne.

Cashtivity received the first runner up award in the Global Edtech Awards for their innovative project based learning platform

Car Cloud expanded their offering to customers on every continent (except Antarctica, penguins are a hard-sell).

• Kate from Koja was featured on Shark Tank and nailed it.

Culture Amp’s Steven Ly smashed his way to victory for the second year in a row, defeating Rome2Rio’s Rod Cuthbert at the Annual Inspire9 Table Tennis Tournament.

CareMonkey WON the grand prize at the Talent Unleashed Awards and Slush100.

CareMonkey’s Troy Westley celebrates his victory at Slush 2015 in Finland.

CoderDojo have been training teams of young ninjas to lead the future of coding — 2016 Term 1 dates are now open.

• Our in-house tech startup accelerator, AngelCube saw the brilliant teams achieve some great things locally and on their US roadshow.

We also had a number of key industry figures visit Inspire this year:

• Opposition Leader Bill Shorten stopped by to announce Labor’s Third Wave of Innovation Policy.

• Inspire9 hosted an inspiring roundtable discussion with Avi Hasson, Israel’s Chief Scientist and some of Australia’s most innovative minds.

• Opposition Parliamentary Secretary of Digital Innovation and Startups, Ed Husic paid a visit earlier in the year to talk innovation and coworking.

• Greens MP Ellen Sandell also dropped by to discuss the future of coworking in Australia.

And that’s a wrap, we’re bursting with pride at the achievements of this fantastic community! We can’t wait to see what you do with 2016.
