You love Amazon’s Jack Ryan. You love every freaking minute of it.

And now Jack is BACK for Season Two!

The plot, the pace, the action, the anticipation. It’s like James Bond with a plot, great character development, and actual unknown twists and turns.

You’d love to share it with your kids, it’s so awesome.

“Whoa, wait, hit the brakes pal,” you just said out loud. “This action-packed, God-and-country clad thriller is way too violent, has waaaay too much language, sex…have you lost your d@$n mind? She’ll kill me.”

Yes, she will.

I’m here to let you have your cake and eat it too.

There’s an app called VidAngel that lets you take out the stuff you don’t want your kids to see out of movies and TV shows on Amazon Prime, Netflix, and HBO on Amazon Prime. Plus, they have an original series called Dry Bar Comedy that is on-par with the standup you see on Netflix, minus all that stuff that compels Moms and Dads to turn the volume waaaaay down, or jump for the TV when the kids come waltzing in, awkwardly look at the TV, look back at you, look at the TV…and you wish you could disappear.

And to you Mr. “I Don’t Care, I Can take It, I Don’t Need to Mute or Skip Nothin’!” — you don’t really need to see it either so guess what, everyone wins. Brownie points with the wife. Go find some other way to cause trouble.

Here’s how it works.

  1. Subscribe to VidAngel.
  2. Connect your Amazon account.
  3. Choose Jack Ryan (do I really have to tell you that?)
  4. Figure out what you DON’T want them to see and hear.
  5. Press the button for awesome.

Here’s a little video I created to show you what it looks like when you select options, you can generally just nuke a whole category, or you can get in there with a precision strike and take out a word, such as my favorite thing to knock out, the F-Bomb.

My two oldest boys — 11 and 9 respectively — have been captivated by every moment. And because the show mimics real-life events, it opened up some important father-son conversations.

“I loved it,” said one, “I love the mystery and the action of it. People think taking out bad guys is just shooting, but I’m learning there’s smarts and strategy involved. You have to, above all, really think through problems and be patient in life”

His older brother had this to say, “Jack Ryan teaches you to be careful and not just trust anyone, but to watch what they do. I also appreciate how honest and loyal Jack Ryan is, I admire that. He has character. Also, the series shows that the world can be a dangerous place, and it makes me appreciate the hardships that people serving in the CIA and the military have to endure. We need to be praying for them.”

Lest you think it’s all guns-a-blazing, we have had days of conversations about life, history, virtue and so many other great lessons…lessons from watching a show they would never be able to watch without VidAngel.

This is VidHeaven.

You can check out VidAngel here: https://www.vidangel.com/

Now, go away, Jack’s on…and Momma’s ok with it.
