Join Us for a Twitter Chat on Mathematics

#MathMindsetChat April 20 @ 8 PM EST

Join us April 20, 2018 at 8 PM EST for a Twitter chat all about mindsets in math education. We’ll be exploring how you can promote enduring math positivity and a true passion for mathematics in your students, applicable to grades K-12. We’ll use this time to help math teachers connect, share strategies, and brainstorm ways to promote a positive, growth mindset in math class.

Serving as our featured panelists for this chat will be the following educators:

Dean Deaver, 5th Grade Teacher: @DeaverDean

Dean Deaver is a 4th grade teacher at Monroe Elementary in Riverside, California. He is also an adjunct professor at California Baptist University in Riverside, California. Dr. Christine Younghusband, Math Educator: @ChristineYH

Christine Younghusband is a recent doctoral graduate of the Educational Leadership program at Simon Fraser University. She is an affiliated scholar at the Centre for the Study of Educational Leadership and Policy and sessional instructor at Simon Fraser University. She is a former secondary mathematics teacher with 16 years of experience and currently serves as a school trustee on the Board of Education on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia. Christine is passionate about teaching and learning and her research interests include mathematics education, professional learning, subject matter acquisition, and education policy. She loves looking at systems and finding ways to enhance the learning experiences of students.

Regan Russel, Kindergarten Teacher: @ReganRussell_K

My name is Regan Russell and I just finished my 8th year teaching Kindergarten in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District. I have my Masters in Literacy Education and am one of those lucky people who love their job! Outside of teaching I am a huge KU fan (as well as a fan of all sports) and love to travel and scuba dive!
