So you just quit your job to pursue your Passion. What Now?
So you have left your high paying job or your college to pursue your dreams. You thought that once you will leave every thing, you will have time to focus on your dreams and passion. But after leaving them, you are daunted by a question- What Now? Now you are free to do whatever you wanted. You have the determination and are ready to put in hours of hard work. But, how should you start? The feeling of finally being free is liberating.
But now once you have left the herd, you have to plan wisely, as the jungle is wild and dangerous. You have to sit down and write down your long term goals on a piece of paper. Next thing you should do is to chalk out an elaborate plan as to how you are planning to achieve them. You have to consider the hurdles that may arise and plan in a manner that gives you some slack for errors and mistakes. However, the plan should not be vague and should be clearly defined.
Also, since you have left your fixed source of income, you are now dependent on whatever savings you have. So you need to be minimalist and spend wisely. It is also advisable to get a small stream of regular income from some part time sources. This will ensure that you are paying your bills on time. Remember, if you are bankrupt, you shall be forced to go back to a stable job to fund your expense. So it is better to have a small stream of income which meets your minimal expenditures.
And the most important thing is don’t procrastinate. Now you don’t have a job, so you are not running against deadlines. But that does not mean that you are laying down in bed thinking you have much time and will start after a while. Never do that. Period. Now you are liberated, so start chasing your dreams. Go out. Meet new people. Work on the plan you have made. Stick to it. Have the discipline to follow it everyday. Make your own weekly, monthly and quarterly targets and finish them on time. Review your plan from time to time and change it as per changing circumstances. This will ensure that you are constantly on your track and will achieve your goals.
The journey would not be easy and it is never meant to be easy. But constant hard work will ensure that you get what you have strived for.
Good luck!
