18 Life Lessons I’ve Learned in My 18 Years of Life
The lessons that pushed me into adulthood with wisdom
It has finally come — my eighteenth birthday. It’s both exciting and terrifying that I’m officially a legal adult. I have the right to vote; I could buy lottery tickets if I so desired (though that’s not a top priority of mine). It’s finally here — adulthood.
I haven’t even lived for two decades, yet I still reach for meaning in my day to day life. What have I learned these past eighteen years? What knowledge will I always hold dear as I stumble into adulthood?
I’ve learned so many lessons, mainly due to the fact that I’ve made so many mistakes. But that’s a part of life, and you can only learn from life’s countless errors. 18 lessons in 18 years. Here’s what I’ve learned.
1. Treat others the way you want to be treated
If I go back into my memory archives, I distinctly remember this being one of the first lessons I learned. If I want to be treated with kindness, with love, and with respect, I have to treat everyone around me in that same way.
