Medium’s CEO, Ev Williams, announced recently that it was moving support away from their big Medium-owned publications and back onto the independent writers.

For the foreseeable future, we will focus that talent on supporting independent voices on our platform. — Ev Williams

This is great news for us independent writers. But what does it mean for submitting your work to publications?

I’ve seen a lot of confusion around this in Medium writer’s groups, so I’ve done some research for you to get clarification:

1. They’re still live

Medium has assured me writers can still send work into the Medium-owned pubs such as Forge, GEN, ZORA etc.

This is the email they sent me in response to my question about this:

Hi,

Thanks for checking. That article will remain relevant, and authors can still submit to those publications for consideration.
