It was back in 2018 when I was working hard for several political campaigns and writing professionally in my free time, right before I took the plunge and decided to write full time and put politics on the backburner when it struck me. What struck me? You may ask…the flu. Ahh, the good old days, back when the flu was just the flu and not, “This fever means I have COVID-19 and I need to draft up my Will and Testament stat!”

While the flu back then was nowhere near as dramatic as it is now, it did mean that I was out of commission when it came to working for a few days and being as sick as I was, high fever and all, I couldn’t muster the strength to type full, coherent articles. So what did I do?

I spent my days writing nothing but titles.

During some hours — between the sniffles and cuddling up with my blanket, and my man-groaning, of course — I was able to manage to sketch out a bit of an idea for each piece, a sort of overarching narrative of what I wanted to say and how I wanted it to come off.

This paid big dividends in the long run…
