100-Word Story: Good friends don’t leave…

I’ve always wanted to fly. But my best friend doesn’t think it’s a good idea because she can’t, and friends don’t leave friends behind.

Sometimes the urge is all-consuming. My feet lift off the ground and I don’t stop them. But she’s always there, grabbing me by the ankles. Pulling me down like gravity. Reminding me what a good friend doesn't do.

It's eating me up inside. So tomorrow, I'll fly. When her icy fingers wrap around my ankles, I'll let my foot and her face collide. Let my soul, body and mind soar like they're supposed to.
