Why I’m Now a Blogger Without a Blog

Why I’ve moved on from trying to own a blog

Like many other web content writers, I began my journey as a blogger, pouring my heart and soul into every blog I owned.

Of course, not every blog was a success. Some fizzled out and were discontinued quickly. Others did better and were able to gain traction. Yet, the longer I spent on my blog, the more I found myself willing to stop. And in 2019, shutting down my final blog was the easiest decision I’ve made as a blogger.

But even though all my blogs were now discontinued, I didn’t stop being a blogger. I was still writing blog content for others. I was still creating blog content. The only difference was that I was no longer doing so for myself.

My blogs were losing their direction

It wasn’t that I lost all interest in blogging. The fact that I continued to ghostwrite content for other blogs is a testament to my continued interest in blogging. However, when I was writing for my own blogs, I was confined to the niches that the blogs were defined by.

Yes, having slight topic deviations on a blog is acceptable. But as I wrote, I found myself interested in many other things as well. And the list of passion projects constantly grew. I wanted to write lyrics, I…
