Have You Ever Unpack It Yourself?
Will you get frustrated if you cannot unpack something? You try to gently open it. — It doesn’t work. You try harder. — Still doesn’t work.
You try to tear it down. — The package is so thick. You try with your teeth. — Gosh, your teeth almost break but the package remains completely intact. Your final attempt, you cut it with a scissor.
Why is it so hard to unpack it? Immediately, you have a bad experience with the product. You blame a manufacturer. You blame a packaging designer.
In the afternoon, you are hungry. You unzip a resealable bag of potato chips. Easily, conveniently, quickly, you enjoy the chips. Interestingly, you rarely think of a better experience you receive from this product. Then you don’t admire a manufacturer for their detail-oriented mindset. You don’t praise a packaging designer for her thoughtfulness.
Bad experience speaks a lot louder than good experience. The ugly truth that every producer must bear.
There is no different in digital products and software. If we, as a producer, care enough, we will work tirelessly to eliminate any chances that may create bad experiences. No, we don’t need admiration but because we care enough. We create good experiences by cutting down bad experiences. They, as a consumer, don’t notice any of our effort instantly. It takes time for this investment to be profitable. It takes a lot of patience to keep going.
But that’s exactly where we should aim for. That’s the place where great products are. That’s the place where the most value is created for both consumers and producers — like us.
Thinking and writing are the things I like. Sharing is what I love. Because of them, I write everyday to share stories from my thoughts and experiences, from the future I see and believe in. Everything I use to build Inthentic a better home. A home of people who want to do good things and give back. A home that is a small starting point of changes for a better society. I am proud of what I am doing. And even prouder to know that I am not doing it alone.
