Cherry on Top
A poem inspired by words on a lunch menu
Cherry on Top
A cherry on top,
too sweet to leave behind.
I catch the last sun tonight
garnished with your smile
spiced with your charm,
melting my ice-battered heart.
I love Americanos
black and strong
you crave fruit scones
with raspberry jam.
We shy away
from the cream
and miss each other —
leaving the cherry
alone.
