Bundesliga & Sky Italia Renewed Their Partnership Through The 2024–2025 Season
Bundesliga, Germany’s top-tier football club, renewed its agreement with Sky Italia through the end of the 2024–2025 season. The new four-year partnership begins with the 2021–2022 season. It includes the rights to Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, Bundesliga relegation play-off games, the German Super Cup, along with other news and feature programming reporting on the league.
Per the agreement, Sky Italia will continue to cover Bundesliga play on its linear subscription channels but will now also provide coverage across both its digital and social platforms. Sky also plans to produce a weekly live segment to air on its Sky Sport24 channel dedicated exclusively to the league as a part of its international EuroShow programme.
The agreement with Sky was made through Bundesliga International, a subsidiary of the German Football League. Sky plans to work with Bundesliga International to build more content opportunities to allow the league to connect with its Italian fans on a deeper level.
“There is a rich history between German and Italian football and our partnership with Sky Italia is built on many years of mutual trust and respect — we are delighted to be able to announce this extension,” stated Robert Klein, chief executive of Bundesliga International. “Our fans in Italy will get the best of the Bundesliga and look out for some cool new content formats as we continue to innovate with Sky Italia going forward.”
Sky also acquired the rights to France’s Ligue 1 from 2021–2024, which includes the French Super Cup. The deals were secured after Sky acquired the non-exclusive rights to Italy’s second-tier Serie B from 2021–2024.
Sky Italia’s portfolio also includes the English Premier League through the end of the 2021–2022 season, along with the Uefa Champions League and the Europa League through the end of the 2023–2024 season.
