Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami signed a local broadcast deal with CBS Miami in April. The deal was built in collaboration with Texas-based software solutions firm PumpJack Dataworks over-the-top service (OTT). The agreement is the first-of-its-kind for any MLS team.

As part of the deal, the club’s regional live match broadcasts will be available on the platform to any fans living within a 100-mile radius of Miami, Florida. CBS Miami will also select various regular-season games to air in primetime on MyTV33.

Fans outside the 100-mile radius, an alternative stream is being made from inside the commentator’s booth. On August 22nd, users in 30 different countries downloaded the app to watch Miami’s 3–2 home win against Orlando City.

Jean Manuel, Inter Miami’s vice president of digital stated that PumpJack has become a “key partner in executing our strategy … on building a data foundation to maximise revenue”.

Finding strategic digital streaming partners is vital to the growth of any team across a large variety of sports. Inter Miami sees the partnership as an opportunity to expand its reach and fanbase, forming a foundation to maximize revenue.

PumpJack also works with other US major league franchises, including the NBA”S Dallas Mavericks. They also recently signed partnerships with Williams Racing Formula 1 team and Welsh top-flight Pro 14 rugby union club the Ospreys.

All games are currently being held behind closed doors as the league continues to find ways to bring fans back to the stadium.
