The National Football League and Amazon expanded their partnership to include ‘thousands of officially licensed products.’ Amazon’s new merchandise offering includes brands like NFL Pro Line, Fanatics, New Era and Outerstuff.

However, items from Nike, the league’s uniform provider, will not be included. The sportswear brand’s short trial with Amazon ended in 2019.

“As part of the National Football League and Amazon’s collaboration to expand the assortment of officially licensed NFL products, Fanatics will be opening an NFL storefront on Amazon in the near future and, along with other authorised sellers, is now enhancing the fan shopping experience through an increased selection of officially licensed NFL products,” stated a Fanatics spokesperson.

While Amazon has sold NFL merchandise previously, the lines were limited. The eCommerce platform will now feature everything from jersey replicas and headwear to tailgating items. The move has the potential to transform the multibillion-dollar market for fan gear.

According to Sportico, a website dedicated to covering sports business, it is unknown if the new agreement is part of a pilot program or the beginnings of a long term partnership.

In a statement to Sportico, Amazon said it ‘continues to collaborate with the NFL to enhance our customer experience and we look forward to expanding our assortment of NFL products.’

The new pact comes just a week after Amazon secured the exclusive rights to the NFL’s Thursday Night Football. The deal totals more than $100 billion.

The partnership launched on Wednesday, March 24th. The retail giants’ new contract with the NFL is said to be worth $1.32 billion annually.
