The Philadelphia Eagles appointed Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) as the club’s official esports tournament provider. The deal is EEG’s first with a National Football League franchise.

The multi-year partnership includes an EEG operated biannual esports competition played on EA Sports’ Madden NFL title. The online gambling company will utilize its Esports Gaming platform for the entirety of the competition.

EEG will leverage various players’ imagery within the team’s local market as part of the agreement. The gaming-focused betting company also plans to work with Eagles players to create custom content that will be used to promote the esports tournament. Custom videos will also be featured in the team’s numerous digital marketing channels spanning email, social mobile, and other online channels.

Additionally, the deal makes the Eagles an EEG shareholder. The firm, which was founded in 2008, has seen a significant uptick in traffic despite Covid. The total amount wagered in October 2020 was over $16 million and monthly revenues were above $600,000. The company’s total net loss for the three months ending on September 30th was $1.8 billion.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Philadelphia Eagles as they introduce their fans to the world of competitive esports gaming,” stated Grant Johnson, chief executive of EEG.
“The Eagles join a growing list of high-profile organisations that have chosen Esports Entertainment Group as their esports tournament provider, affording us an incredible opportunity to expand our brand reach within multiple large, dedicated fanbases and setting the stage for significant growth ahead. We intend to build on this momentum.”

EEG also made similar partnerships with Major Soccer League’s Los Angeles Galaxy and Philadelphia Union and the National Hockey League Los Angeles Kings at the end of this year. EEG also announced a partnership with English Premier League’s Arsenal, which names the Esports Gaming League as the Gunner’s Pro Evolution Soccer roster manager for the new eFootball League season.
