The Super League Extends Its Title Sponsorship Deal With Betfred
Betfred is extending its partnership with the Super League. The gambling brand and the UK-based rugby competition’s new deal runs until 2023.
The elite rugby competition features teams from England and France. Since the initial partnership formed in 2018, the contest has been named the ‘Betfred Super League.’ The title sponsorship contract was extended in 2019 for a value of UK£1 million (US$1.32 million) per year.
“It’s great to be extending our successful partnership with Betfred,” stated Rhodri Jones, chief commercial officer of the Super League.
“During this difficult period, they’ve been outstanding headline partners, and we can’t thank Fred [Done] and his team enough for their continued support.
“We look forward to continuing to work with them for the next two years.”“To have the support of someone like Fred who is so passionate about Super League and who shares our aspirations for its future is fantastic.”
Per the new deal, Betfred will continue to work with the Super League on its ‘Gaming Responsible’ campaign.
“The passion and enthusiasm shown by the fans, media and everybody involved in the game of rugby league is, I believe, the essential reason this has proved such an enjoyable and rewarding sponsorship for Betfred, and is why I had absolutely no hesitation in extending the Super League deal for at least a further two years,” stated Fred Done, chief executive of Betfred.
The extension was announced just ahead of the Super League grand final on October 9th when St Helens claimed a record ninth Super League title with a 12–10 win over the Catalans Dragons.
