The PGA Tour announced Workday as the new title sponsor of the upcoming World Golf Championship event at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. The event is one of three World Golf Championships on the 2020–2021 PGA Tour schedule.

The event offers a total prize purse of $10.5 million, with the new official name being the WGC-Workday Championship at The Concession. The event is taking place from February 25th to 28th. Due to the pandemic, the tournament had to be relocated from Mexico City to Florida.

It will be the first of the four-week Florida swing includes the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, and the Honda Classic. The Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor will be played post-Masters.

“With the challenges we’ve faced with the pandemic in the last 12 months, Workday has been the epitome of a true partner and today’s announcement of their support of our relocated World Golf Championships event in Florida is further evidence of their commitment to golf and the PGA Tour,” stated Jay Monahan, the PGA Tour commissioner.

Workday has partnered with the PGA Tour since 2017. The human resources technology company also signed a ten-year agreement this past December to become the Memorial Tournament’s presenting sponsor in Dublin, Ohio, beginning in 2022.

Aneel Bhusri, Workday’s co-founder and co-chief executive, commented on the company’s sponsorship of the WGC tournament.
“Workday is proud to be part of this historic tournament rooted in the ideals of great generosity, sportsmanship, and giving back to the community,” stated Bhursi.

“We value being part of the PGA Tour and events like the World Golf Championships that not only help spotlight the best players in the game but organisations near and dear to Workday like Eat.Learn.Play, Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, and Year Up.”

Workday further expanded its sponsorship reach, signing a personal endorsement deal with Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka in January.
