Meet Fernando Martinez, Father and Corporate Office Manager of Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria. His two kids, Noah, 5 and Lila, 2, are his everything. Fernando shared with Instawork what it means to be father, how fatherhood has helped him at work, and gives his advice to new dads.

Favorite thing about being a dad

I love everything about being a dad. My kids are everything for me, and I would anything for them. No matter how bad my day is, by just looking at their smile make me forget about everything. All the little things that we take for granted, like walking for example. When your kid start walking you are so proud of it. It is such a basic thing, but for a parent is like they just on gold on a Olympic game. Being a dad rocks!

Advice to new dads

Get as much sleep as possible before the arrival of your baby. Help your partner with all the simple tasks! Change some dippers, do some laundry, and make sure to make time for family always. ALWAYS put your family first! Work can wait no matter how busy it gets!

Kid’s favorite dish

Noah’s favorite dish at Amici’s is the classic New York pizza. Lila, on the other hand, loves the pasta with pesto sauce!
