For the third time, the FintechGermany Awards took place in Frankfurt yesterday. Six innovative FinTech and InsurTech startups were awarded with the “Golden Garage” award. InsurTech.vc General Partner Mehrdad Piroozram had the honour to be part of the jury.

The dominating topic of the evening was Frankfurt’s way to become Europe’s financial capital in a post-Brexit era. This was supported by the many international attendees. But also the relevance of InsurTech was definitely noticeable during the whole event.

In total, the startups were awarded in six categories: Seed-/Early Stage, Late Stage, Growth Stage, Best foreign new entrant to Germany, Blockchain and InsurTech. Seed-/Early Stage included startups that did not achieve any or some revenue yet or could present a first prototype. The late stage covered companies with a six- or seven-digit revenue. A higher seven-digit revenue and international expansion was needed to be included in the growth stage.

The focus of the 16 jurors was on the financial sustainability, scalability and the potential for an exit of the startups.
