The economic cost of the knowledge gap in Finland is about 3–4 billion euros annually!
According to Kauppalehti article, 7,000 new software professionals will be needed in Finland and in the coming years the need will increase by up to 3,800 people a year. In 2020, 15,000 software professionals will be needed in Finland.
The cost is generated by the purchase of 1 to 2 billion software in Finland from abroad, as well as the loss of export and tax revenue due to the uncharged places.
“If we do not take immediate action, for example, to educate software professionals, we will significantly reduce the growth potential of the Finnish economy and the well being of society”, professors of information technology and Tivia announce.
