As previously stated, once we’ve thoroughly explored a possibility, the next natural step is want to jump into action, but depending on the size of the possibility, we may be missing an important step — determining what resources are needed to fulfill the possibility. This is where the who, what, when and how of possibility thinking comes into play.

Once again, it’s useful to look from the future where the possibility has been realized, then look back to the present. This shift in perspective can be both refreshing and lead to new insights. After all, in the Visionary Reality, the project and the possibility has been fulfilled. It’s not just a dream, but a dream that has been realized.

So, standing in the future, start by looking back to the present to identify the resources you already had at the start of the project. If you really look, you may be surprised to find you have more resources in place than you thought at first.

Here are some of the resources to look for:

• Who did you already know that played some role in your fulfilling the project?

• What structures and/or systems were in place that facilitated the fulfillment of the project.

• What talents and abilities did you already have that proved useful and valuable in realizing your goal?

• What other resources were available to you that at the outset you weren’t sure how they could be used, but something told you that might prove valuable?

Once you’ve made a thorough list of the already available resources, you’re ready to then look at what additional resources you ended up needing to attract and/or create so that the project could be fulfilled. Here are a few other questions to help you get in touch with this new resource list:

• Who else did you need to know and ended up meeting that we're able to help move the project forward? (This could be specific people by name as well as a more general description, like ‘needed an editor,’ or ‘bookkeeper.’

• What systems and structures did you have to create of find?

• What other talents and abilities did you either have to develop or find something else had?

• What other resources did you identify at the start of the project that helped fulfill the project?

As you answer these questions, you’ll also want to determine what specific results you want to produce and that you can measure so you’ll know what progress you’re making.

I would also advise you to spend some time to create an atmosphere that is consistent with your true purpose — an atmosphere of cooperation, collaboration, and co-creativity is a good place to start.

Call to Action Assignment

While we will be exploring how to use Purpose Projects to change the world while helping yourself to live true to your life purpose in the next section, this Call to Action Assignment will help pave the way.

One of the intentions of the Path of Mastery is to help you embrace the idea that your entire life is one giant, Meta-Purpose Project. What I mean by this is that as you continue along the Purpose Path, you will find you are pouring more and more of your life into the context of your Divinely Inspired Life Purpose.

At the same time, it can be a real challenge to try to pour your entire life into this new context…at least at first. Trying to do so can be a real set up for overwhelm…an overwhelm that stems from your Inherited Purpose. So, instead of going down that path, I encourage you to start by creating and working with just one or two Purpose Projects at a time. Once those are moving forward, you can add another, then another. It won’t be long before you find most if not all of your life has been poured into your Divinely Inspired Life Purpose.

Of course, at the same time, you can continue to use the polishing cloths of purpose practices, ponderings, and pivoting to experience more of your life purpose on a moment-by-moment basis.

With all that said, here’s the assignment:

Pick an area of your life that you feel is calling to you for an infusion of purpose, passion, and play. You might want to go back to your original Wheel of Life to refresh your memory on the various spokes that make up your wheel. While your there, check to see if there aren’t some low scored areas that could benefit from such an infusion.

Begin to envision what this area of life would look like in the future once you’ve infused it with more purpose, passion, and play. Take your time on this. Meditate on it, ponder upon it as you walk or drive to work. Talk to friends who support you in your life. Be willing to be surprised.
