Intel Open Ecosystem Team Updates: July

Here’s a selection of what’s new on our site and podcast.

Maximize Accelerator Impact with New Kubernetes* API

As users turn to Kubernetes as a management solution for complex workloads at the network edge, they often find the resource allocation model limiting. Because Kubernetes is currently only equipped to handle local resources, such as RAM and CPU, users can’t connect the kind of specialized hardware needed to process complex workloads.
Enter Dynamic Resource Allocation (DRA), a new API that offers a more flexible way to describe and manage resources, enabling users to more easily leverage accelerators like GPUs. Learn more.

How TuneD and Kubernetes* Power Manager Can Optimize Resources, Reduce Costs

As companies place increasing importance on achieving sustainability goals, more-adaptive on-node systems can help optimize available resources to decrease system power use and cooling costs. By using a combination of TuneD, a system tuning service for Linux*, and Kubernetes* Power Manager, you can leverage power-tuning models already available on the CPU to design more intelligent systems.

Securing the Software Supply Chain: The Role of Open Source Program Offices

How OSPOs manage policy development, facilitate upstream contributions, advocate for open source software usage and supervise legal risk. Jessica Marz, Director of Open Source Program Office at Intel, is an expert at explaining legal concepts to software developers and software development concepts to lawyers. Read more.
