Automating file publishing to Oracle Cloud UCM

It’s been a long time dear blog, so what have I been doing all this time gone and not here you ask ? Well I have been busy building ETL jobs and migrating data from legacy systems to Oracle HCM and Financial Cloud platforms.

The process is simple, you take the data from our legacy Peoplesoft Systems and convert it to the format that Oracle wants it in and “start uploading new data”. So to upload any content to Oracle cloud, the file first needs to be uploaded to the UCM (Universal Content Management). UCM is like a central repository where all the files being used as input reside and its the entry point for all files (much like Ellis Island back in the day).

For starters this is how the UCM landing page looks like:

As you can see for manually uploading files it is pretty intuitive but for the purposes of automation, you might want to invoke a Web-Service and that’s exactly what we will talk about here. The other way is to include a jar and call its API as listed here ( please don’t).

Much simpler and cooler way would be to invoke the Fin Integration WS, that can be found at
