How to monitor your Web application/Server/IP externally
Setup monitoring of your web application, server or IP for any downtime or being unresponsive without any hassle, no script involved, no changes in server config.

Your application is finally live with world class configuration, amazing config of server, database and CDN service, now all you have to take care is of traffic and earnings right?
Being a developer or even business/product owner, this is critically important to keep eye on your services, setup monitoring and restoration service for your server/IP.
There are many cases when server itself failed to inform or alert you about its seriousness, moreover, you would need to plan and think for the same.
World is full of solutions for lots of problem we face, you won’t have to come back to office knowing that your service was down on entire weekend. specially when you are new in market and customer acquisition is your upfront priority. Showing them 5XX will turn them off permanently.
Here is quick way you can setup monitoring of your web application without even logging in to your server.
1. Add your web application to monitor, one of best application i am using these days is uptimerobot.com, You can create free account there and start setting up your account. Once your email is verified and logged in again, proceed to dashboard where you will find option to Add monitor

2. Select HTTPs from drop-down option in monitor type section.

3. Enter Friendly name of your application, followed by URL and interval. In free plan you will get minimum interval of 5 minute. You can always check pro plan for even shorter span of monitoring.

4. In right side section of this dialogue, you can select your email address as default alert target and click on Create Monitor button.
You have successfully setup monitor for your web application on your email. But wait, I won’t be checking mail if i have down site alert there, i want something quick, thats flying in your mind i know. Lets go ahead.

5. Locate “My Settings” from header of page, and find section of Alert contacts.
6. You see that [ Add Alert Contact ] button, yes, smash that.

7. You already have one email, you can add multiple emails to alert. (Make sure you need to verify your email before alert will be activating on those.)
8. I’ll Suggest you to select other ways like, Slack, Telegram, Google hangout chat which will notify you instantly, lets select Telegram for now.

9. Name your alert, see example in screenshot, select alert type.

10. Once saved, You will be prompt with a link, which you needs to open with your telegram application and type `/start` in uptimerobot bot’s chat screen.

11. Once done, your Telegram is set for alert.

Now go back to your monitor from left side plane, locate gear icon and edit your monitor, Check telegram alert from alert section and save.
You can select a much contacts in your alert and will be listed in your alert section which you can choose and get relaxed.
You will be notified every-time site goes down and goes up with length of downtime if any.
