No Excuses

It’s been a couple of weeks since I last posted. I’ve been thinking about what to write for a first post once I got started up again. I thought about giving a whole bunch of reasons why I haven’t written for the past couple of weeks, and why I haven’t kept up with most of my habits during that time. But, I’ve decided not to, and here’s why.
It’s too easy to make excuses. I’m busy. But so is every other person on the face of the earth. I haven’t done all that I hoped to do by this point in the year, same with most everyone else. How we respond to that lack of progress is where a huge difference can be made.
The default is to make excuses. To justify my mediocrity. To shout to the world why it’s OK that I haven’t been pursuing my goals.
But then, what reason do I have to keep pushing?
We all stumble, we all fail, we all make mistakes. It’s not the mistake that defines us, but how we respond to it. If I fall I have a choice. I can sit in the dirt telling everyone who walks past all the reasons I’m down there. Or, I can get back on my feet and work on building momentum again.
So that’s what I’m going to do.
No excuses. No justification. No rationalization. Just do it. (As Nike would say.) Regular posting and regular habits resume today.
