Session started with an energising talk by Mr. Dhaval Gandhi. he divided the session in to two parts; Theory Session on Designing for Startup, and workshop session on a real project at www.gohired.in

He started the theory session by a statement

80% of young companies fails within 18 months, Why?

The reason is ‘Inability in discovering the right business model for their innovation’

And some challenges in a startup environents are

  1. Defining a problem statement is a big problem
  2. Different stakeholder may have different thought process and may not like agree on one design solution
  3. Designers may not have sufficient time for user research and testing
  4. On the fly changes in the requirements
  5. Limited time for design work

And the talk slipped into more like a group discussion about topics like UX vs UI design, User Centred Design, How to evaluate and making decisions etc.

Learn Early, Learn Often

Love Problem Statement, Not Solution

Then he concluded with Ideal approach for Designing for Startups

1. Principles

1. Truths

  • Our opinion does not matter
  • We don’t know what will work
  • There is no magic template for higher conversion

2. Turn unsupported hypothesis to logical and data driven decisions

2. Model (Research XL) + Google 5 Day Design Sprint

ResearchXL Model — A process that leads to insights by Heuristic analysis, Web analytics analysis, User testing, Qualitative surveys, Technical analysis etc.

Google Design Sprint — 5 days product design sprint developed by google ventures which consists of 5 to 8 team players from different background

Followed with the group project on gohired.in which briefed by Mr. Dhaval Dave

Problem Statement:

“How might we establish trust (credibility) of gohired platform for learners?”

Followed with grouped Design Sprint session which lead to many ideas.

And here are the Top 5 ideas derived out of 23 entries

In coming months, gohired.in will be revamped and planning to integrate selected ideas.
