This is a reminder that, as part of the ongoing API Key deprecation plans, creating new API Keys will no longer be possible as of Monday, 3rd April.

For users of integrations:

If you’re currently using a third-party integration with Intercom (or you’re using the Intercom API) with your API Keys, this will not be affected and will continue to work as normal until full API Key deprecation mid-year.

We will be ensuring all users of Intercom-built integrations are converted to OAuth before this time, and will be encouraging third parties to do the same to avoid disruption when API Keys are fully deprecated.

For integration owners:

If you have an integration with Intercom that uses API Keys, you will not be able to accept new users until you upgrade to OAuth. Existing users will not be affected at this time and will be able to continue using your integration until full deprecation mid-year.

We recommend that all integrations and users are upgraded to OAuth as soon as possible to avoid disruption when API Keys are fully deprecated.

Please note that it is prohibited to ask users for their Access Tokens; integrations must use OAuth for authorization. This is to protect the security of our users’ data.

You can find a guide to setting up OAuth here.
