Intercultural Mindset Magazine is a publication that aims to bring the best writers in the field of intercultural communication and expat life together.

From my perspective, the field of intercultural communication gets a significantly smaller readership than it deserves.

I have started this publication with the aim of offering writers in the field of intercultural communication the chance to grow a large readership base here on Medium, which is one of the best tools for writers today of growing a large following quickly.

Why Medium?

Medium is a great tool that allows writers to republish their existing content and, in doing so, get access to a large community of readers.

Publications are basically collections of writers which are contributing their content on a regular basis. They have their own pool of readers, allowing writers to tap into an existing network.

Writers are not obliged to use Medium as their primary publishing platform. Rather, they can simply spend 10 minutes for each article they have already published on their own blogs and use Medium’s import function to republish it on the Medium platform.

In this way, their content gets circulated on an additional platform. Readers find the content either by being subscribed to the publication which features the article, or through the tags that the author is using.

Medium is a really powerful means to grow your reader base relatively quickly.

But in order for it to be useful to us, we need to grow the readership base around tags like ‘intercultural’, ‘cross-cultural’, ‘expat’ and so on and so forth. If we do this together, we will all benefit from it.

How can I submit my articles?

First of all, you will need a Medium account.

Once you have written your article, keep it as a draft. By clicking on ‘share’ on the top right corner of the menu, you can get the link to the draft (or the complete version of the article).

Next, please sent the draft per e-mail to rettigtim@gmail.com. If it is approved, you will be added as a writer to the publication.

Once you are a writer, you can submit stories at any time by clicking the ‘add to publication’ button. It will then be reviewed and be made ready for publication.

If your article has not been approved within two days, it has most likely been rejected. However, please do not refrain from submitting another article. Articles are primarily rejected because they do not fit the theme of the publication

Some additional points

  • Please only submit content that is relevant to the publication (topics related to: intercultural communication, expat life, living abroad, global leadership etc.)
  • If you are using stock imagery, please use a site that uses public domain imagery and allows for photos to be used (e.g. Unsplash or Pixabay) —and do credit the author
  • Keep in mind that the publication has the right to edit your story. However, you can withdraw it at any time from the publication.
  • If you have any further questions, feel free to send an e-mail to: rettigtim@gmail.com
