Judgment

One day you will look up
& everyone you know will
be gone, the trees will be
bare & the birds’ late
evensong is an echo
— & after you’re alone for a
long time & have realised
the terrible gifts of emptiness
the gods will turn around
when finally you merit some
attention. ‘First He must look
upon you, then you can look
upon Him’ said the saint, & when
we have caught the
interest of beings in
higher dimensions we find
there is a reckoning for us all but
it’s not what we think. I found
I had judged myself in the Fall
& was cleansed in time for Spring.
