Light falls & darkness rises.
Doesn’t that apply across the board?
In weather, in worlds
in people themselves.
We are ever fighting off temptation
in our climb — how much easier
to let the boulder roll for
it seems all momentum
runs the other way.
Some days that same light
traces its rainbow arc &
throws shadow on the world.
Other days, I am just a doomed
comet, a firebrand joining the hellish
plummet into ash -
inattention always easier
than staying on point.
Look around, hate travels so fast
love staccato, faltering
while apparently all around.
We have to overcome ourselves.
There are always trains happy
to take you to your final destination.
How easily we humans jump aboard.
