Reconciling Faith with Politics — Bible Verses You Can’t Misinterpret
We are called to love and serve asylum seekers and refugees as ourselves
Happy Sunday, friends!
If you or someone you love is a Christian arguing against taking asylum seekers or refugees into this big beautiful country of ours then this post is for you! The New Testament is as clear as the Old Testament. Christian compassion is not contingent upon citizenship.
This is a reference guide for scripture that speaks to loving our neighbors not in spite of their immigration status but because of it.
The legal differences between refugees and asylum seekers are irrelevant for Christians of faith. There is no need to argue about economic asylum versus “credible fear” political asylum. We don’t have to navigate the geopolitics of immigration and immigration reform. We don’t have to be theological scholars to interpret these teachings. We just have to love one another as God loves us. So simple. And so beautiful.
Please feel free to add any verses I’ve missed and I will edit this reference guide to incorporate them.
