I was taught about courage
I was taught about righteousness
About how staying on the fence was cowardliness

Pick a side, I was told
Though I didn’t get a choice as to which one
Stand strong and defend, don’t be lukewarm

So, I took the right side
And stood my ground on their views
Leading people to believe I had all the answers and held all the truth

Ya, I was pretty high and mighty
I learned apologetics and how to argue
And I felt righteous in my own eyes

Who would’ve known
That I was to be spit out
Like lukewarm coffee from my mouth
