Summer season is almost here which is the perfect time to start thinking about remodeling your home. Grab a cold beer 🍺, turn on your AC 🌠and think of ways to make your home 🏡a little bit more exciting.

Most people focus on their actual rooms while completely ignoring the space in between — the hallways, the stairs, the awkward passageways between one space and the next.

In this awesome photo collage we want to show you how to transform your staircases into functional works of art, and add something to the overall look and feel of your home without costing you too much. 🤑

Ok, you ready?

The Staircase Pattern or Mural

Cost: $

A beautiful and simple way to decorate your steps is by putting up a few tiles on the vertical part of each step (the riser). If you match the design of the steps to the handrail and the adjacent rooms, even better.

Get a Runner

Cost: $$

Runners are great because they keep your stairs warm and add a certain element to the look and feel of the room. They come in all sorts of shapes and colors and sometimes you can even get one that has two different designs on both sides.

The Open Staircase

Cost: $$$

Ok, this one is a bit expensive but it’s so damn pretty. Yes, it takes replacing your entire staircase. I love the open design of these things.

A Fresh Coat of Paint

Cost: $

There are a bunch of ways to paint your staircase. You can paint the actual steps like so:

Or you can paint the entire step and make it look like a runner:

The Planted Steps

Cost: $

Let’s say you painted your steps, or put a runner on them, or put up some tiles. If you have some area between the runner/tiles/paint and the wall then it’s a really great idea to add some plants.

Make your staircase stand out by adding some succulents, aloe plants, or vines. Remember: don’t use catnip, the cat will ruin your runner.

Indoor plants not only provide great health benefits (by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen) but they also reduce household dust. Line up your staircase with a variety of plants to give your home a more earthly feel.

Recap

Make the design of your home more uniform by adding some spice to your staircase. Get a plant, install a runner, paint it down the middle, or use a nice mural design.
