Sometimes, the network can be really unstable and annoying. I’d be in the middle of a very important research and it goes out. I’d have to wait a few annoying minutes before it comes on. And then off it goes again.

Luckily for us, thanks to the ever thoughtful Chrome developers, you don’t have to be idle while waiting for the network come back on. You get to challenge yourself and try to beat your high score by playing an endless running game, ‘The T-Rex Runner’. This game is hidden in Chrome’s ‘Network Error’ page and here’s how you can easily access and enjoy the game.

Whenever this Network Error page comes on, tap your spacebar/up-arrow key and watch the seemingly static T-Rex jump to life and start racing with increasing velocity.

Press the space bar or up-arrow key to jump and avoid the differently sized cacti lined up in your way. Try to run as far as you can before colliding with a cactus.

Also, when you encounter the flying pterodactyls (birds), click on the down-arrow key to duck/bend or up-arrow key to jump over them as the case may be.

Beware, for the night is dark and full of terror, and it comes when you reach your 700th mark. Do not be weary, but persevere, for the sun always rises ☺

In all cases, as with life, try to survive for as long as you can.

For every hundredth score, you get to hear a triumphant beep.

With this, you can let some steam off or deal with idleness while waiting for the network to come back on.

However, to play the game while online, maybe you’re just tired and need a break, simply type “about:dino” or “chrome:dino” in Chrome’s address bar and there you go.

Play on and see if any more surprises await us.
