Here is what we know — There is Genesys (not the food store), and Genesys run an internship program known as Codename:Learnable. The idea is to produce as many skilled individuals who do not need to leave the South-East to get the tech ecosystem they need. And they get paid to learn, isn’t that cool?
I guess you will want to know what the internship offers, here at Genesys,
interns take a hands-on approach to any of the learning paths; back end
development, front end development, product design and flexing (just
kidding, but am I?).

Let’s talk about the product design learning path…
When you hear ‘product design’ what may come to mind is that the interns
are learning how to create aesthetically sound products, right? Wrong! What
they are actually learning is how to bring to life a game-changing idea and
transform that idea into product, with the end result being making that
product a business. While learning here, they just don’t learn a bunch of
theoretical “brouhaha” — whatever that means, they also learn the practical
aspects of product validation, UI/UX practices and actionable metrics.
Interns in this path are learning about the product design process. Design is
more than what the eyes see and the aesthetics of a product, design is
continuous problem solving — an active cycle of investigating and validating
needs, crafting and developing ideas, and creating solutions. In simple words,
they will learn how to develop, and refine ideas for the market. It’s easy to
think of ideas but succeeding at turning it into a business is the harder path.
Interns in this path will learn how to turn an idea into a scalable product, one
that can be monetized and will be used by users.
Their classes are totally hands on which will eventually lead to their
participation in Google Design Sprint. Yeah I said it, Google Design Sprint.

On to the next one…
Front-end development is designed to familiarize the intern with good user
interface coding practices, while teaching them the awesomeness of HTML5,
css3, In which they will learn the importance of coding for mobile first and
also how to develop applications that are responsive and user friendly. Here
at Genesys , UX/UI developers are taught that it is important that your app
don’t make the user think ..
The front-end guys are taught the importance of THINKING TWO TO FIVE
HUNDRED TIMES AND CODING ONCE. Emphasis is placed on the importance of writing maintainable and reusable code.
The interns will be taught the latest technologies introducing them to a
JavaScript framework ( React JS) , such technologies have been adopted by
companies like NETFLIX , FACEBOOK and NAIRALAND(JK) . That just means
that they will become such cool designers.
The Front end path promises to gives you a better eye for design and
functionality.

Finally…
The course work on backend is designed to keep the backenders engaged on
modern software development tools that make them relevant to their village
people and their generation.
In the first week, the interns have been involved in a series of drilling which
involved introduction to software and JavaScript. Which can draw tears off the eyes of Mike Tyson.
The interns collaborated and solved all the tasks assigned to them which
involved understanding and using regular expression, functional
programming and writing tons of articles on medium because of course they
are awesome and talented.

The primary technology used for the backend development program is NodeJS which allows for creation of database, routing, creation of APIs, and is a cause for suicide due to obvious reasons.
The interns would build faster applications that can store data in the database
using MongoDB. They would also be introduced to ExpressJS, etc to make
better applications.
By the end of this program, the interns for the backend learning path must
have been transformed into world class software developers if they manage to
learn shit.

What we are saying in essence is that everything is learnable.
