WHAT WE’RE WATCHING
The House failed to vote on the $1.2 billion infrastructure bill last Thursday due to ongoing negotiations
- In the meantime, the House has passed a 30-day measure to reauthorize funding for highway and transit construction programs in order to avert worker furloughs and interrupted projects
- Speaker Pelosi set a new deadline of Oct. 31st for a vote on the infrastructure bill
Just hours before a potential federal shutdown last Thursday, President Biden signed legislation to keep the government funded through Dec. 3rd
Congress still faces an Oct. 18th deadline to raise the debt ceiling — if lawmakers fail to reach agreement, experts basically predict an economic apocalypse
Joint initiative from Rep. Tony Cardenas (D-Calif.), three dozen House Democrats, and Pay Our Interns is calling on the Department of Labor to regulate internships and inform interns about their labor rights | Read the press release here and full letter to DOL Secretary Walsh here
