The first edition of Intern.Hours at DEI-UC went great, and we got some good participant feedback. The second edition will take place at ISCAC Business School in March 22nd! Follow us and make sure you grab a seat, because last time all slots filled before the event.

On Intern.Hours, we organize short individual conversations between industry mentors and students. To help students prepare for those mentoring sessions, we gathered some useful tips:

  1. First of all, it’s essential that you research about your chosen mentor! Visiting his LinkedIn profile may be a good way to know his/her career and where he/she worked.
  2. Do you know the company where he/she is working currently? It may be a good idea to find out what they’re working on! Will they have summer internships for your interest areas?
  3. The conversation will be short and you may not have time to ask everything you wanted. A way to avoid this would be, for example, writing down the key questions you would like to see answered.
  4. This mentoring sessions are a great way to learn inside information. Like the direction of a company, what are the lacking and what positions they want to fill in the future.
  5. Present yourself! You’ll talk with someone who has been in your shoes. Show your interests and goals, and ask for advice on how to reach them. You may be surprised to discover unknown paths.

In the end we’ll give you the mentors’ contacts, so that you can get in touch and ask more questions after the session.
