Getting an interview is just the first step. There’s an entire journey ahead. In this blog post, we demystify how you could rock the interview process and increase your odds of making it.

Because, we know it. Facing rejections is hard.

Researching about the role you’ve applied for

The number one thing. Look where you fit in to the role. If you match at least around 40% of the job description, there could be something you can do. If the number, is lower, considering waiting for a while to up skill or try another role. Always look for a mutual fit.

Perfecting the cover letter

The cover letter is the most underrated part of the application process. Whether mentioned or not, it is the best place to ‘sell’ yourself. In this insightful CNBC article on cover letters, experts from Harvard describe the rigorous effort candidates should put behind in creating a cover letter.

Combining the C’s — clear, concise, concrete, cover letters should ideally be broken down into three parts : the first being an introduction to who you are, what you’re up to currently; the second being a background into how relevant your profile is to the position you are applying for, and the third being a conclusion with what you look forward to in the role.

Answering ‘ Do you have any questions ?’

No, this isn’t a trick question your hiring manager asks you. It’s a question to understand how interested you actually are about your internship.

Being a curious student, your outlook should be to ask about what work you’d do, with a slight inclination to how you’d want to shape yourself for the challenges ahead. Learn more about the culture, problem statements the manager has worked on and feed your curious soul!
