The article Stop Saying Technology is Causing Social Isolation by Hector Carral discusses the idea that technology is not socially isolating humans but is in fact making our interactions better. He challenges the believe by many people that new technology is negative affecting our social interactions but he shows that it is in fact not negatively affecting it and it is actually making it better. I agreed with many of the points that he mad in the article because I personally believe that new technology is making us better as a race. New technology is allowing us to interact with people in new ways and allow people to interact in the ways they want to interact with people. For example instead of someone having to interact with people they see everyday that they don’t necessarily want to interact with, they can interact and socialize with anyone in the world because of technology. It is bringing people together more than it is dividing us. Technology also helps keep us entertained when we are on public transportation because there is no possible way that people would socialize with random strangers. I also agreed with his point that people who came up with the idea that technology is ruining us are close minded and have it all wrong. If they were actually opened to it, they would recognize that it gives people the opportunity to connect with people they would normally not be able to connect with and these people are perhaps using technology as an excuse to explain issues that they have with other people socially.
