Wireless Evolution towards 5G — Universal Resources Management (URM) to solve the resources allocation problem by means of Coordination and Cooperation

The main 5G characteristics are: (i) support for multiple access technologies; (ii) scalable and customizable network; (iii) advanced KPIs in comparision with 4G (e.g., availability, latency, reliability, user experienced data rates, area traffic capacity); (iv) flexibility and programmability (e.g., network slicing, diverse mobility management, network function virtualziation); (v) resource efficiency (both user plane and control pane); (vi) seamless mobility in densely populated and heterogeneous environment; (vii) support for all kinds of real time and non-real time multimedia services and applications with advanced QoE of mobile users.

5G will have [ITM-2020 Technical PErformance Requirements] flexible, reliable and secure connections able to ensure improvements in the following applications scenarios: enhanced mobile bradband, massive massive type communications and ultra-reliable and low latency communications.
