Shaimaa Alansari :)
This is Shaimaa Alansari; I am an international graduate student at Dominican University. This is my third semester at Dominican studying for my Master’s degree in Library and Information Science. An interesting fact about me is that I am the first female Saudi student who starts in the MLIS Department at Dominican University, which is an honor.
When I finished my undergraduate degree, which was also in Library and Information Science, I applied for the King Abdullah Scholarship Program to pursue my education. My GPA helped me gain this scholarship, which has changed many aspects in my life including my education. I came to the United State in 2012; I studied English as a Second Language for a year and a half. I have not had the chance to work and build any experiences in the career but I am taking classes that will help me improve my skills.
I aim to gain a good job in my country in information centers or oil industry; therefore, I am more interested in data and knowledge management courses. I am focusing on data and technology classes, which have taught me how to research, analyze, organize and display data by making infographics, and creating databases. I learned how libraries could influence the community and society by sharing patrons’ ideas through services and events. I wish to replicate this method in my country.
