The future of reference
I have read an article about the Future of Reference is Outside the Library that presents the future vision of reference services and how it should be as bedrock of the community. It seems the sites of libraries now becomes different, and libraries want to engage with the community and change the idea of seating behind the table. I agree that making reference services more active, organized and understandable would bring substantially influences to the libraries. This article gives various opinions of people who have experiences in libraries about the new vision of offering reference services that get approbation to use it in the future. I firmly believe in the importance of a community reference librarian that facilitate the reach of information to the community by the library.
Merging organization and individuals to create reference services outside the library would enhance positive impacts in the library world. Providing usual ways of doing business reference via Internet such as e-mail reference, chat reference and text message that help libraries to assist their patrons. Going to the community to serve new materials and formats that libraries use of digital and print resources is a magnificent method that will impact the library’s leaders and the community to receive achievements.
