The Rarely-Shown Side of Being a Digital Nomad in Southeast Asia
How a nightmare scenario in Bali almost completely ended my trip.
March was supposed to be a month when I took a break from intense training and focused more on making money.
I had embarked on a 10-month trip to Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia starting October last year to take my badminton skills to the next level and compete internationally.
Admittedly, it was a rash and poorly planned decision.
I booked my plane ticket when I saw my Seeking Alpha earnings exceed $1K USD in September. That was my first month of consistently writing on the platform.
The idea was that as my follower base grew on Seeking Alpha and as the quality of my articles improved, my earnings would only continue to grow. Combine this with the, at the time, rapidly growing YouTube channel my brother and I were working on, and I should have no problems financially.
There were unfortunately a couple of problems with this.
I was correct that my Seeking Alpha efforts would continue improving with time, but there were a number of considerations I had not thought about.
