InterPod Special Episode 9

The InterPride podcast series, InterPod, is proud to launch our 9th Special episode, TDOV2022: Celebrating our Transgender Community and Raising Awareness of the Issues.

The LGBTQIA+ community has come a long way in the fight for acceptance. Our voices matter and will be heard. Many of our LGBTQIA+ community members have fought for decades for the right to be seen and heard.

We speak to Transgender activists, advocates, and artists about what Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) means to them and the current issues that affect their lives. Speakers include those from Thailand, Houston, Los Angeles, and Missouri.

Lea Robinson (they/them, he/him)

Lea is a gender non-binary actor, with a passion for the craft and the ability to play a large range of characters. lea moved to the bay area from NYC, where they worked in television, film and theatre. lee is a member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA and is also represented by L.A. management MadCatch Entertainment (Robin McWilliams) and San Francisco Agency, MDT (Rosemary Anderson). lee is a diversity educator, huge gamer and lover of scary movies.

Jesselyn Nakprasit (she/her)

Jesselyn was Miss Trans International Thailand 2021. She is 21 years old (Started to fully transition at 18) Education: Business English Communications, Thammasat University, Thailand Current Job: Marketing Designer at Affix Labs, Finland (Rather keep the company name confidential due to privacy matters) Hobbies/Interests: Cosplay, Cover Dancing (K-POP), Gaming Used to be a catwalk model from the age of 18–22.

Anamika Phiancharoenrat (she/her)

(Miss Trans World Thailand 2021) Education: Faculty of Liberal Arts (English major), Rangsit University, Thailand Current Job: eSolution coordinator (Asia Pacific), ExxonMobil Interests: Netflix, Music Been living in Australia for nearly 5 years.

Supisara Junnak (she/her)

(Miss Trans Intercontinental Thailand 2021) Age 32 : Decied to transition at 28 Education: — Faculty of Arts ,Chulalongkorn University, Thailand — MBA English Program (finance and Marketing), Nida Business School (Scholarship Student) Previous Job: — Cabin Crew at Asian Air — First Class Receptionist at True Corporation — Account Executive at Zillingo Thailand Currently just graduated master degree and looking for good opportunities Interests: Travel, Culture, Music, Movie and Politics Used to be Thai floral arrangements teacher for foreign students

Akeera Jantapan (she/her)

Tookta Topline (she/her)

Tookta is a famous Thai Molam (folk, country) singer. She started singing at the tender age of 12 years old. Her sound and genre is specific to the Isaan region of Thailand. She has performed for an audience of over 100k on Mother’s Day for Thailand’s Queen. In addition to a successful career as a Molam singer,Tookta has also performed as a popular stand up comedian.

Calpernia Addams (she/her)

Calpernia Addams is an actress, musician, author and activist, also known for her work in and for the transsexual community through Deep Stealth Productions. Deep Stealth produces entertainment and educational material promoting understanding and growth centering on the trans community. Recently she spoke at Oxford University, was thanked by name (“Callie Addams”) in Jared Leto’s Oscars acceptance speech, starred in Facebook’s first national tv commercial, was the national face of OCC Makeup, and co-produced the first all-trans cast of The Vagina Monologues with Andrea James, performed alongside Jane Fonda in the 10th anniversary production of “The Vagina Monologues” at the New Orleans Super Dome to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Calpernia starred in MTV/Logo’s “Transamerican Love Story“, a show examining dating and romance for trans people. Her memoir, Mark 947, details her Southern childhood and service as a field medical combat specialist with the Navy and Marines in Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War.

Eden Rose Torres (she/her)

Eden is the Founder & President of PridePortraits.org. Over the past 5 years she has photographed and interviewed six thousand LGBTQIA+ community members and allies across the country. Her work has been featured and published by People Magazine, Out Magazine, The Advocate, Gay Star News and many other local and national outlets. She has partnered & collaborated with Facebook, The FBI, Nancy Pelosi & many other organizations & individuals advocating for a more inclusive world for LGBTQIA+ people, with an emphasis on the trans community. Eden is affiliated with Point of Pride and The Stay Gold Fund.

Jordan Braxton (she/her)

Jordan has been an Activists in the St. Louis LGBTQIA community for over 35-years, raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and Intersex and Trans Rights. Jordan is on the Board of Pride St. Louis, Inc. as The Director of Public Relations and the Vice President of St. Louis Black Pride. Jordan currently works at Vivent Health (formally St. Louis Efforts for AIDS) as a Prevention Specialist doing education and outreach for the prevention of HIV/STI. Jordan is also known in entertainment and fundraising circles for her illusion of the incomparable Dieta Pepsi. As Dieta, Jordan has used her talents to raise money for several of our LGBTQIA organizations including Doorways, Food Outreach, St. Louis Efforts for AIDS, Metro East Pride, Power of One, Metro Trans Umbrella Group, Bethany’s Place, and The Transgender Memorial Garden.

Michelle Meow is the host and producer of “The Michelle Meow Show.” The program’s tagline is: ‘Your A-Z, covering the LGBT, LMNOP, and everyone in between.’ Michelle’s mission is constructing opportunities for people to listen in to deep conversations to develop understanding and empathy. She shares, “We simply don’t have enough opportunities to talk and not enough moments to listen.” Michelle’s show can be heard in San Francisco and nationally on the Progressive Voices Network and her local TV show can be seen on KBCW TV and Channel 44.

Michelle also produces programs at the iconic Commonwealth Club, where she has also serves on their Board of Governors. There she is dedicated to conversations around social justice with an intersectional lens. She has interviewed notable thought-leaders such as Olympic medalist Adam Rippon, NFL’s first out LGBTQ coach Katie Sowers, first American woman in space, and Sally Ride’s widow Tam O’Shaughnessy. Since 2006, Michelle has been a co-host of the San Francisco Pride Parade broadcast and she was the President of their Board of Directors from 2014–2018. She is a self-described LGBTQI+ history geek, information sponge, and a lover not a fighter.

Michelle shares, “Exchanging thoughtful dialogue can create change. We are all different, but in our differences, we find similarities and hope. Exchanging thoughtful dialogue can create change we all seek in humanity.”
